Congo

Congo

Congo the Chimp painted these pictures in the late fifties under the tutorship of Desmond Morris, who organised an exhibition of his works. Is been said that Picasso was a great admirer of Congo and bought one of his paintings.

  1. I agree with Picasso, even if someone else chose the colours and gave the chimp the loaded brush every time, he obviously decided on how to apply it to the picture. It seems that he had a sense of composition and colour. What do all of you artists think?

  9. Congo's paintings are beautiful....He knew when to stop. But he came to a tragic end. His tendency to violence increased and he was returned to his jail cell at London Zoo after he attacked one of DESMOND MORRIS's assistants.
He died of TB a few years later. Today his paintings sell for a fortune.
