Pratt is still a mistery to me.
And "mistery" & "stil" are good words to describe his drawings. Everything is there, simple, clear, light and empty. A few artists know to use empty spaces as him.
More than that, his drawings perfectly connect with his words, and the words with the next drawings and so on. He writes as someone who is drawing and draws as if was writing.
There are those who say that Hugo just imitates Canniff. I do not think so. Pratt did start where Milton stopped. He is dealing with comics as a language, as poetry.
By the way Oscar, the art you posted is scanned from originals, is'n 'it? Which is the story of them?

Un maestro. Un grande de la historieta. Y todo un personaje. Recuerdo el cariño que sentía por su abuela, por su nona. Esa mujer maravillosa que, cuando Hugo era un niño y regresaba de la escuela, le decía: Dibujá lo que viste hoy. Y Hugo, alentado por su querida nona, dibujaba con mucho gusto, con mucho placer. Y así aprendía todos los días. Así crecía y mejoraba y se entusiasmaba. Sí, así fue como Hugo Pratt le fue dando forma a su destino, a su futura profesión. Así fue cómo enriqueció (mientras pasaba al papel, dibujo tras dibujo, ese mundo tan rico que veían sus ojos de niño en el barrio, en la escuela, en la casa de sus amigos) los telares encantados de su cerebro en formación. ¡Saludos!
