Colour Photography

Reputedly this is the 1st colour photograph. A Scottish ribbon, photographed by James Clerk Maxwell in 1861 in three separate lantern slides.

Autochromes

The Lumiere Brothers not only invented the "Kinematograph" but they also invented the "Autochrome", a wonderful system to record colour images on a glass plate.

They had an exquisite eye for photographic aesthetics. These Proustian photographs were taken by them between 1906 and 1910.
