Enrique "Quique" Couso

Este dibujante, aqui caricaturizado por Ianiro, es uno de los misterios de mi vida, Yo veia sus dibujos cuando era un muchachito y me parecian maravillosos. Me hacian pensar en las animaciones de UPA que tanto amaba. Despues de un tiempo no volvi a ver sus trabajos en ninguna parte. Años mas tarde termine conociendo a su hermano Agustin, que me conto que "Quique" se habia suicidado hacia tiempo. Agustin no queria hablar de "eso" y nunca me entere de que pasó. Ahora busco desesperadamennte sus trabajos sin encontrarlos para revivir mis viejos entusiasmos.
Su apellido era Couso, con ese, y no "Couzo" como escribieron en la revista "Dibujantes"

Enrique Couso (with an S) was an artist I admired in my youth because he reminded me of the style of the animations of UPA. He disappeared from the pages of the magazines and much later I found that he had committed suicide.

Today I saw this sensational exhibition in the British Museum. It is highly recommended. It delighted me to see how wonderful art was in America before blogging and TV animation.

En el Museo Britanico hay en este momento una maravillosa exhibicion de grabados americanos anteriores a la invencion del blog. Imperdible. Pienso volver a verla.
